Sydney Conducts First-Ever BioBlitz in Urban Parks

This Sunday, hundreds of Sydney residents will team up with 30 scientists to conduct the first-ever 24-hour survey of the wildlife in our urban parks, all in an effort to increase the City's understanding of its environmental health.

Five specially selected Sydney parks under the microscope include Sydney Park, Glebe Foreshore Parks, Observatory Hill, Centennial Park and Sydney Olympic Park.

"During this weekend's BioBlitz, city residents will get in touch with their greener side. Working closely with the scientists, participants will learn about their local wildlife and help record the plants, mammals, birds, insects, reptiles and frogs living in Sydney's urban backyard," said Kate Shearer, NatureKeepers Coordinator.

"Anyone is welcome to walk up and register for a BioBlitz team on the day. No previous skills are necessary as this is a day of learning," said Ms. Shearer.
